Stewards
In the Teamsters Union, a steward or committee member is someone who addresses member needs, wants, interests, and concerns on a daily basis. With the assistance of Local 638’s business agents, stewards and committee members put forth extra effort to make sure all members have a voice and an advocate on the job.
Despite the extra time and the hard work, being a steward can bring great satisfaction – the satisfaction that comes with knowing you have helped someone and that you have made a difference in the lives of working men and women. Stewards are communicators, listeners, problem solvers, leaders, and advisors that you can count on to assist you.
